Mountain View and Cupertino are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2018, but not for long. The Mountain View Spartans will be playing at home against the Cupertino Pioneers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mountain View will be looking to keep their nine-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Mountain View can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Wednesday. They claimed a resounding 61-30 win over Gunn on the road. Given Mountain View's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 303rd, while Gunn is ranked 804th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Alana Hernandez continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, going 6 for 12 from beyond the arc en route to 24 points and 4 assists. She is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikayla Kim, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Cupertino beat Gunn 34-29 on Friday.
Mountain View is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 18-5 record this season. As for Cupertino, their victory ended a 17-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 3-16.
Everything came up roses for Mountain View against Cupertino when the teams last played back in January as the team secured a 58-26 victory. With Mountain View ahead 31-11 at the half, the contest was all but over already.
