Baseball Game Preview: Morrow Mustangs vs. Lovejoy Wildcats

For the second straight game, Morrow will face off against Lovejoy. Morrow will venture away from home to square off against Lovejoy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Morrow has four straight victories, Lovejoy has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Morrow will bounce into Wednesday's matchup after beating Lovejoy, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Morrow skirted past Lovejoy 4-3. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.

Malachi Mingo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up seven Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Zoran Galloway was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He has become a key player for Morrow: the team is 6-2 when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 4-7 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Preston Ward, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Lovejoy's loss dropped their record down to 5-9-1. As for Morrow, they now have a winning record of 10-9.

Wednesday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Morrow has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .472. However, it's not like Lovejoy struggles in that department as they've averaged .469. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
