The Credo Gryphon will challenge the Paso Robles Bearcats at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Credo took a loss when they played away from home on Wednesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Everything went their way against Technology as they made off with a 12-2 win. The result was nothing new for the Gryphon, who have now won five games by ten runs or more so far this season.
Zach McKenna made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. He is becoming a predictor of Credo's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 2-5-1 when he doesn't).

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Henry Humphreys, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and three RBI. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Tommy Simmons, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Meanwhile, Paso Robles had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 4 runs) and they went ahead and made it three on Thursday. They never let the Titans get on the board and left with a 10-0 victory. That ten run margin sets a new team best for the Bearcats this season.
Not much got past Nate Contreras, who gave up just three hits and racked up six Ks to keep Nipomo off the board. Contreras has been consistent : he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Emmett Dobroth was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and four RBI. That home run marked the first that he launched this season. Talen Freitas was another key player, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Paso Robles was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Nipomo only posted a batting average of .150.
Paso Robles' win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-9. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Credo, they now have a winning record of 6-5-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Credo has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Paso Robles struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
