Silver Lake had a senior duo take command as Jordan Faimon dropped a double-double on 22 points and 15 rebounds and Tayten Menke scored 20 points along with six steals. The match was Faimon's third in a row with at least ten points. Keaton Karr was another key contributor, scoring four points along with five steals.
Meanwhile, in a tight matchup that could have gone either way, Tri County Northeast made off with a 46-45 victory over Tekamah-Herman. The win was just what Tri County Northeast needed coming off of a 73-36 defeat in their prior matchup.
Tri County Northeast's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Hunter Heikes led the charge by scoring 16 points along with eight rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Heikes has scored at least 25% of Tri County Northeast's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jackson Belt, who scored eight points along with 11 rebounds.
Silver Lake's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Tri County Northeast, their win bumped their record up to 3-5.
Keep an eye on the arc in Thursday's match: Silver Lake have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.3 threes per game. It's a different story for Tri County Northeast, though, as they've been averaging only 3.1 threes per game. Given Silver Lake's sizeable advantage in that area, Tri County Northeast will need to find a way to close that gap.
