The Purchase Line Red Dragons's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fifth straight defeat. They took a serious blow against United, falling 62-25. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Purchase Line in their matchups with the Lions: they've now lost nine in a row.
Despite the loss, Purchase Line still got an impressive performance from Brooklyn Syster, who scored 11 points along with five steals and three blocks. Syster has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last five times she's played.
Purchase Line struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only an offensive rebound. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
United was led to victory by Delaney Perrone and Mollee Fry. Perrone scored eight points along with nine rebounds and four steals, while Fry scored 23 points along with three steals. Perrone has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Maddison McGinnis, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Purchase Line's loss dropped their record down to 5-13. As for United, the win (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 14-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Purchase Line will challenge the Wolves at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for United, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against the Highlanders at 7:15 p.m. on January 30th. Cambria Heights will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings (they are ranked 304th, while the Lions are ranked 123rd).
