American Canyon is preparing for their first league matchup of the season on Monday. They will host the Casa Grande Gauchos at 4:30 p.m. American Canyon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.2 runs per game this season.
American Canyon came into their game on Wednesday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They lost 12-5 to Pittsburg.
American Canyon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Andre Lopez, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Casa Grande). They never let Justin-Siena get on the board and left with a 10-0 win on Thursday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Gauchos with their most commanding win of the season.
Miles Nicholas tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Tyler Pelissetti and Dylen Dooley did most of the damage at the plate: Pelissetti went 1-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base, while Dooley went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Franco Bernardini, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Casa Grande's victory bumped their record up to 6-3. As for American Canyon, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. American Canyon has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Casa Grande struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.4 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
American Canyon came out on top in a nail-biter against Casa Grande when the teams last played back in April of 2025, sneaking past 3-2. Will the Wolves repeat their success, or do the Gauchos have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
