Baseball Recap: Mcclatchy Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

McClatchy entered their tilt with Woodland Christian on Wednesday with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Cardinals with a sharp 9-1 victory. The result was nothing new for the Lions, who have now won ten games by six runs or more so far this season.

Ari Silva made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out 12 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off nine hits (and not a single walk). Silva was also big at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two doubles and one run.

In other batting news, McClatchy let Elias Ortega and Antonio Barber run wild. Ortega went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run, while Barber went 1-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave Barber a new career-high. Zevi Pruger was another key player, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

McClatchy's record now sits at 18-4. As for Woodland Christian, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 16-2-1.

McClatchy and Woodland Christian should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps California Rankings. The Lions (ranked 170th) will meet Cordova (ranked 686th) at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Meanwhile, Woodland Christian will square off against San Juan at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (187 vs. 1205).
