The Kern Valley Broncs will venture away from home to challenge the Mammoth Huskies at 3:15 p.m. on Friday. Kern Valley is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 10.1 runs per game this season.
Kern Valley lost 12-1 to Bishop Union on Tuesday. The Broncs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Kern Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aiden Madden, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Mammoth). Everything went their way against Immanuel Christian on Thursday as they made off with a 26-3 win. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Huskies with their most commanding win of the season.
Santiago Osnaya and Brennan Deaver made a big impact no matter where they played. On the mound, Osnaya tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run but no hits. Meanwhile, Deaver tossed three innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off two hits. Osnaya has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two hits in five consecutive appearances. At the plate, Osnaya went 2-for-5 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI, while Deaver went 1-for-4 with four RBI and two runs. Those four RBI gave Deaver a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Tanner Knott, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Elias Ericson, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 3-8. As for Kern Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. Kern Valley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 5.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mammoth struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Kern Valley's way against Mammoth in their previous meeting back in March, as Kern Valley made off with a 12-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Broncs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
