The Pleasant Valley Vikings won the last time they faced the Nevada Union Miners, and things went their way on Tuesday too. Pleasant Valley took their matchup at home with ease, bagging a 75-22 victory over Nevada Union. Given Pleasant Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 133rd, while Nevada Union is ranked 817th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was AJ Gambol, who scored 19 points along with 3 steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least 25% of Pleasant Valley's points. Another player making a difference was Kabrey Cooper, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 rebounds.
Nevada Union's loss came despite strong showings from Ari King and Katie Enos. King scored 10 points, while Enos scored 8 points. Enos scored a full 36.4% of Nevada Union's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Pleasant Valley now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Nevada Union, they now have a losing record at 1-2.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Pleasant Valley will square off against Vista del Lago at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Vista del Lago focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 last Wednesday. Nevada Union's road trip will continue as they head out to face Bear River at 1:00 p.m. on December 5th.
