Everything went their way against the Unity Christian Lions on Friday as they made off with an 11-1 victory. Considering the Panthers have won nine contests by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Jameson Wood made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out ten over five innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI.
In other batting news, Hearts Academy got a massive performance out of Kyle Stubblefield, who went 3-for-4 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Rylee Mobley, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
Hearts Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .571. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Unity Christian only posted an OBP of .292.
The win (which was Hearts Academy's fifth in a row) raised their record to 13-3. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.6 runs over those games. As for Unity Christian, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-11.
Hearts Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Unity Christian, they have already played their next match, a 15-1 defeat against the Panthers on the 25th.
