Chavez is 8-2 against Arleta since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the Mustangs at 3:00 p.m. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Chavez is headed into the matchup having just posted their closest victory since May 15, 2025 on Wednesday. They won by a run and slipped past Vaughn 9-8. The win was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

Ivan Martinez made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and six unearned) runs off nine hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Xavier Salas, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Joey Uribe, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Chavez kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their hit total in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Arleta). They were the clear victors by a 10-3 margin over Grant on Friday. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Mustangs with their most commanding win of the season.
Chavez's record is now 9-14. As for Arleta, their record now sits at 6-14.
Arleta's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Chavez hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .325. It's a different story for Arleta, though, as they've only averaged .199. Will they be able to contain Chavez's hitters?
Chavez beat Arleta 7-2 when the teams last played back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
