The Wharton Tigers's game last Friday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Wednesday. They secured a 55-49 W over Sealy. That's another feather in the cap for Wharton, who also won these teams' last head-to-head.
Wharton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Angell Gaona, Jr. led the charge by scoring 18 points along with nine rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gaona, Jr. has scored all season. Jacoryan Dickerson was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 11 rebounds.
Wharton's win bumped their record up to 9-15. As for Sealy, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Bellville the next time they take the court. Wharton will host Bellville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while Sealy will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
