This season hasn't been kind to the James Lick Comets, who are still winless after their 13th game. They fell just short of DCP Alum Rock by a score of 30-28. James Lick lost against DCP Alum Rock in their previous head to head back in December of 2021, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 31-30 score last time.
DCP Alum Rock's win on Wednesday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Estrella Sanchez, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and five steals. Sanchez is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Carolina Carbajal was another key contributor, scoring five points along with four steals.
James Lick's loss was their 25th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 0-13. As for DCP Alum Rock, the win got them back to even at 5-5.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. James Lick will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against University Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. As for DCP Alum Rock, they will take on Varsity Opponent at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Varsity Opponent comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 23 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
