Clopton is 9-1 against Mark Twain since September of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Hawks will welcome the Tigers at 5:00 p.m. The teams are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Clopton has struggled recently with five losses in a row, while Mark Twain will arrive with three straight wins.
Clopton managed to slip by Silex the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Hawks came up short against the Owls on Thursday, falling 14-8.
Josi Magruder and Calleigh Noah did some serious damage despite the final result: Magruder went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one run, while Noah went 2-for-3 with two runs and one double.
Meanwhile, Mark Twain hadn't done well against Community recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Tigers blew past the Trojans 10-4. The Tigers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by six runs or more this season.
Maylie Boling made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Boling was also big at the plate, going 2-for-5 with two RBI and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Mark Twain got a massive performance out of Ella Moss, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most hits Moss has posted since back in September of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Jordan Wilkinson, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Mark Twain was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .387. They are 3-1 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Clopton now has a losing record of 4-5. As for Mark Twain, their victory bumped their record up to 6-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Clopton has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Mark Twain struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Clopton's way against Mark Twain in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Clopton made off with a 10-0 win. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Tigers turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
