On Tuesday, Bentworth was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 41-37 to Southmoreland.
Despite the loss, Bentworth still got an impressive performance from Amber Sallee, who scored 17 points.
Bentworth has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Southmoreland, their victory bumped their record up to 2-14.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bentworth will face off against Chartiers-Houston at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Chartiers-Houston focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Monday. As for Southmoreland, they will head out on the road to square off against Elizabeth Forward at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Elizabeth Forward's favor as the team sits on five straight wins at home while Southmoreland has been banged up by 12 consecutive losses on the road.
