The Independence Patriots had already won five in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 45.2 points), and they went ahead and made it six on Friday. They claimed a resounding 56-7 victory over Rocky River at home. The result was nothing new for Independence, who have now won seven contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Independence got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Travis Hill out in front who rushed for 76 yards and three touchdowns on only five carries. Hill was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 52 yards. Another player making a difference was Justin Little, who threw for 216 yards and three touchdowns on only 12 passes.
Independence's win was their ninth straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 7-2. They've been dominating during the matchups in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 38 points. As for Rocky River, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-7.
Independence will head out on the road to face off against Butler at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Butler will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak. As for Rocky River, they will look to defend their home field on Friday against Garinger at 7:00 p.m. Garinger comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
