Spring-Ford is on a 16-game streak of home wins (dating back to last season), while the Vikings are on a nine-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Spring-Ford Rams will take on the Perkiomen Valley Vikings at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
A well-balanced attack led Spring-Ford over the Warriors in every quarter on their way to victory on Tuesday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that Spring-Ford blew the Warriors out of the water with a 71-28 final score. With Spring-Ford ahead 41-19 at the half, the game was all but over already.
It was another big night for Anna Azzara, who scored 18 points along with six assists and six steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Aaliyah Solliday, who scored 15 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Perkiomen Valley humbled the Wildcats with a 64-33 victory. Given Perkiomen Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Pennsylvania basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while the Wildcats are ranked 340th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Perkiomen Valley's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Anna Stein, who scored 15 points. It was the first time this season that Stein scored 15 or more points. Grace Miley was another key contributor, scoring 14 points.
Spring-Ford has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 18-3 record this season. As for Perkiomen Valley, their win bumped their record up to 20-1.
Some high-performance offense is likely on the agenda as the two teams are some of the highest scoring teams in the league. Spring-Ford hasn't had any problem running up the score this season, having averaged 61.3 points per game. However, it's not like Perkiomen Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 66.1 points per game. With both teams so easily able to put up points, the only question left is who can run the score up higher.
Spring-Ford came up short against the Vikings in their previous matchup back in January, falling 61-48. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Perkiomen Valley's Grace Galbavy, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks. Now that Spring-Ford knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
