The East Mecklenburg Eagles have not had quite the year their fans were hoping for to this point, but back-to-back wins may be a sign of good things to come. They snuck past Central Cabarrus with a 38-34 win on Friday.
East Mecklenburg can attribute much of their success to Presense Downer, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and ten rebounds. That's the first time this season that Downer pulled down eight or more rebounds. Another player making a difference was Ava Stallings, who scored two points along with nine rebounds.
East Mecklenburg's win bumped their record up to 4-8. As for Central Cabarrus, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-4 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. East Mecklenburg and Olympic will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Olympic will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. Central Cabarrus and Northwest Cabarrus will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 3rd without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
