Lancaster extended their losing streak to three on Thursday, dropping them down to 7-10. They came up short against the Quartz Hill Royals, falling 16-2. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Royals this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-3 on Tuesday.
Lancaster got a good showing from Gaven White, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits.

At the plate, Lancaster saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Austin Wood, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI. Wood has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played.
As for Quartz Hill, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record up to 12-6. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games.
On Quartz Hill's side, Kayden Smoot made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing five innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits. Smoot was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Marley Castaneda was excellent, going 1-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Zach Dizon, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and two RBI.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lancaster will square off against Littlerock at 3:15 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Quartz Hill, they will challenge Canyon at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Royals' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cowboys have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
