Basketball Game Preview: Bishop Union Broncos vs. Kern Valley Broncs

Bishop Union is 1-9 against Kern Valley since January of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Bishop Union Broncos will be playing at home against the Kern Valley Broncs at 6:30 p.m. Bishop Union will be coming into the contest with an undefeated record on the line.

Bishop Union's tournament run continued when they took on Mineral County on Saturday. Bishop Union blew past Mineral County, posting a 62-5 victory. The Broncos have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four matchups by 30 points or more this season.

Kristin Allen and Sienna Fuller were among the main playmakers for Bishop Union as the former posted eight points and five steals and the latter went 5 of 6 on her way to 10 points. Allen is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least four every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Faye Spoonhunter, who had eight points.

Meanwhile, Kern Valley's undefeated season came to an end after seven games on Saturday. The game between them and El Diamante didn't end well, with Kern Valley falling 65-50. The loss put an end to the Broncs' undefeated start to the season.

Bishop Union will have to keep a close watch on Jessie Bunting and Jayda Bushling, a pair of players who had a big impact on Kern Valley's prior game. Bunting went 11 of 15 on her way to 22 points and six rebounds, while Bushling dropped a double-double on 16 points and ten assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Ava Elliott, who posted five points and six rebounds.

Having lost for the first time this season, Kern Valley fell to 7-1. As for Bishop Union, their win bumped their record up to 5-0.

Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Bishop Union has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 20.6 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Kern Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 43 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
