The Templeton Eagles will face off against the Washington Union Panthers at 3:00 p.m. on Friday. Templeton is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.9 runs per game this season.
Templeton's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They came out on top against Atascadero by a score of 4-0.
Not much got past Charlie Kline, who gave up just three hits to keep Atascadero off the board. What's more, Kline gave up only zero earned runs, the fewest he's had since back in April of 2024.
At the plate, Templeton saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Charlie Dahlen, who scored a run while going 1-for-2.
Meanwhile, Washington Union put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They put the hurt on Mendota with a sharp 11-0 victory. The Panthers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four games by seven runs or more this season.
Trey Morris made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over five innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.
In other batting news, Davin Finderup was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Jared Jacinto was another key player, scoring a run while getting on base in two of his four plate appearances.
Washington Union always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. The last time their OBP was this high was back in March of 2024.
Templeton's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 5-5. That patch can't be blamed on the team's pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Washington Union, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-0.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Templeton has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Washington Union struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
