Hampton hasn't had much luck against Union Grove recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Hornets are taking a road trip to face off against the Wolverines at 5:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Hampton barely beat Stockbridge the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Hornets blew past the Tigers 24-11 on Wednesday. The high-scoring performance was a welcome turnaround for the Hornets' hitters, who had struggled in the games prior.
Aaliyah Davis was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Davis was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her six plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

In other batting news, Hampton got a massive performance out of Mckenzie Goforth, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, three RBI, and one triple. Those four runs gave Goforth a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Briana Peugnet, who went 3-for-6 with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Hampton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Union Grove came tearing into Wednesday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Chiefs as they made off with a 10-4 victory. Considering the Wolverines have won 14 matchups by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Sarah Glass looked comfortable as she tossed four innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Jada Jackson, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. Emma Hunter was another key player, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Hampton's record now sits at 5-14. As for Union Grove, their record is now 15-4.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hampton has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .506. However, it's not like Union Grove struggles in that department as they've averaged .532. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Hampton might still be hurting after the 15-0 defeat they got from Union Grove when the teams last played back in September. Can the Hornets avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
