Baseball Recap: North Tahoe's Win on Saturday Extends Winning Streak to Four

North Tahoe had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Saturday. They came out on top against the Sierra Lutheran Falcons by a score of 14-9. That's the fourth time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 10-0 win on Saturday.

Alexis Ibarra made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over 3.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit (and only one walk). That one hit allowed gave him a new career-low. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while getting on base in all five of his plate appearances. Those four stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, Peter Rusek and Oscar Whelan did most of the damage at the plate: Rusek scored three runs while going 3-for-5, while Whelan went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double. Those three hits gave Whelan a new career-high. Noah Glickman was another key player, scoring three runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.

North Tahoe was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .394. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .391 or higher in four consecutive contests.

North Tahoe pushed their record up to 10-3 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Sierra Lutheran, they are on a nine-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-10-1.
