Meanwhile, after only one run in their last game, Desert Christian made sure to put some runs up on the board against Faith Baptist on Thursday. The Knights put the hurt on the Contenders with a sharp 13-2 victory. The Knights' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Ian Cline made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those two hits gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Doran Rivero, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, four stolen bases, and three runs. He also brought in two RBI, marking his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Hayden Wiser, who went 1-for-2 with four stolen bases and two runs.
Desert Christian was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .423. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
The win got Desert Christian back to even at 2-2-1. As for Valley Torah, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-3.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Valley Torah has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4.7 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Desert Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
