After losing to Denver North the last time they met, Arvada decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Bulldogs put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 14-2 victory on Tuesday. The Bulldogs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 matchups by nine runs or more this season.
Alyssa Moreno made a splash while hitting and pitching. She tossed five innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off three hits. Moreno was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in September.
In other batting news, Arvada got a massive performance out of Amiah Picaso, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. Those six RBI gave Picaso a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Abby Lopez, who went 3-for-4 with three doubles, four RBI, and two runs.
Arvada was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .533. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .333 or higher in eight consecutive contests.
Arvada's record is now 16-3. As for Denver North, their loss ended a ten-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Arvada will square off against Forge Christian at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Fury will roll in looking for their seventh straight win, something the Bulldogs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Denver North, they will face off against Vista PEAK Prep at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Vikings' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Bison have averaged an impressive 7.3 runs per game this season.
