Mt. Shasta is 1-9 against Fall River since January of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Mt. Shasta Bears will be staying on the road to face off against the Fall River Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on January 19th. Mt. Shasta comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 24 points in their last four games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
Mt. Shasta suffered their biggest defeat since December 8, 2023 on Tuesday. They took a serious blow against Trinity, falling 49-18. While losing is never fun, Mt. Shasta can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1172nd, while Trinity is ranked 505th).
Meanwhile, Fall River had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30.5 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Tuesday. They breezed by Etna on the road to the tune of 82-44. Fall River's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Mt. Shasta's loss was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 1-15. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.7 points per game. As for Fall River, their win bumped their record up to 11-8.
Mt. Shasta might still be hurting after the 56-31 defeat they got from Fall River in their previous matchup back in January of 2023. Can Mt. Shasta avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
