The Juniata Indians put another one in the bag on Monday to keep their perfect season alive. They claimed a resounding 49-19 victory over Newport at home. Considering Juniata has won three matchups by more than 19 points this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Ava Shearer was her usual excellent self, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. Those three steals set a new season-high mark for she. Another player making a difference was Regan Lowrey, who scored nine points along with five steals.
Juniata's victory bumped their record up to 5-0. As for Newport, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-3.
Juniata will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy at 7:30 p.m. Saint Joseph's Catholic Academy is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games. Newport is on the road again on Wednesday and play against Antietam at 7:00 p.m. on December 13th. Antietam is out to stop a three-game streak of losses at home.
