If the Valencia Vikings were feeling good off their 53-25 takedown of the Golden Valley Grizzlies last Friday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Valencia ended up on the wrong side of a tough 74-53 walloping at the hands of Hart on Friday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Valencia in their matchups with Hart: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the defeat, Valencia saw an underclassman step up: Keira McLaughlin scored 16 points along with nine rebounds. Libby Oxciano was another key contributor, scoring 19 points.
Morgan Mack continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Hart, scoring 21 points along with nine assists and six rebounds. Mack has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Cornejo, who scored 16 points along with four steals.
Valencia bumped their record down to 8-13 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Hart, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Valencia will take on Saugus at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Saugus is coming into the contest hot, having won their last four games. As for Hart, they will head out on the road to challenge Golden Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Golden Valley has now lost 12 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 1.
