Even though the Salmen Spartans scored an imposing 55 points on Saturday, the Smith County Owls still came out on top. Smith County walked away with a 66-55 win over Salmen. The win made it back-to-back wins for Smith County.
Salmen's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Akayla Mcmooain, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds, and Destiny Bennett who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Smith County is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine contests, which provided a nice bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Salmen, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Smith County will take on Monterey at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Monterey will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Tennessee Rankings (they are ranked 237th, while Smith County is ranked 69th). As for Salmen, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Bogalusa at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Bogalusa is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
