On Tuesday, Oceanside came up short against Torrey Pines and fell 47-36. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Oceanside in their matchups with Torrey Pines: they've now lost four in a row.
Despite the defeat, Oceanside had strong showings from Aubrey Madden, who scored five points along with 11 rebounds and five blocks, and Kaitlyn Kaye, who scored nine points. Madden is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Even though they lost, Oceanside smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 18 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Torrey Pines only pulled down ten offensive rebounds.
Meanwhile, San Dieguito Academy's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their seventh straight loss. They were outmatched by La Costa Canyon on the road and fell 73-26. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss San Dieguito Academy has suffered yet this season.
Oceanside's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-6. As for San Dieguito Academy, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-11 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Oceanside against San Dieguito Academy in their previous meeting on January 9th as the team secured a 64-25 victory. With Oceanside ahead 40-7 at the half, the matchup was all but over already.
