Baseball Recap: Marin Academy Takes a Loss

Marin Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fifth straight loss. They were a single run away from ending the streak, but they lost a 7-6 heartbreaker at the hands of the Making Waves Academy Marlins. The Wildcats were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Marlins earlier this season, when they won 21-4.

Reed Meyer was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 4-for-4. Marin Academy is 3-1 when Meyer posts two or more runs, but 0-6 otherwise. Benjamin Perkins also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

Marin Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Making Waves Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won six of their last eight matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 6-4-1 record this season.

Marin Academy will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lick-Wilmerding at 6:30 p.m. on the 22nd. As for Making Waves Academy, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-5 victory against Leadership Public Schools Richmond on the 11th.
