Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North had a senior duo take command as Ethan Guerra rushed for 122 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.6 yards per carry and Daren Garcia threw for 223 yards and one touchdown while completing 71.4% of his passes. Guerra's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his 17th straight game with at least 102 rushing yards dating back to last season. Jason Almanza also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 215 rushing yards. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Donna only rushed for seven.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial). They strolled past Donna North with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 35-20. The Wolverines haven't had any issues with the Chiefs recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North better keep an eye on Nolan Ramirez. He was instrumental in Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial's win, rushing for 56 yards and two TDs, while also throwing for 221 yards and a pair of touchdowns while completing 77.8% of his passes. The dominant performance also gave Ramirez a new career-high in passing touchdowns (two). Another player making a difference was Miguel Olvera, who rushed for 100 yards and one score on only nine carries.
Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North, their win bumped their record up to 6-0.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground. Pharr-San Juan-Alamo North has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 329 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Memorial struggles in that department as they've been averaging 159.8 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's matchup turns into a tough fight on the ground.
