The Esperanza Aztecs lost to the Troy Warriors back in January of 2020, but the Esperanza Aztecs didn't allow the Troy Warriors the same satisfaction on Tuesday. Esperanza came out on top against Troy by a score of 53-45. Given Esperanza's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 86th, while Troy is ranked 407th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Esperanza to victory, but perhaps none more so than Madilyn Lam, who scored 21 points along with 9 rebounds. The match was Lam's fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Charlotte Muller, who scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds.
Esperanza's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Troy, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-3.
Esperanza will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Heritage at 6:30 p.m. on December 15th. Troy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Whitney at 6:00 p.m. on December 13th.
