Video: Holton Ahlers' highlights vs. Washington
See the gunslinger in action earlier this season.Rose (Greenville, N.C.) and
Conley (Greenville, N.C.) practically broke the scoreboard Friday night.
The Rampants and Vikings combined for a North Carolina state record with 144 points, as Rose outlasted Conley 77-67. Talk about a shootout.
The mind-blowing 144 total points beat the record of 142 points set back in 1930, according to Jordan Anders of The Daily Reflector. Windsor set that mark with a 142-0 win over Creswell. Cardinal Gibbons (Raleigh) and Eastern North Carolina School for the Deaf tied the mark in 1995 with Cardinal Gibbons winning 100-42, according to the North Carolina High School Athletic Association record book.
Conley dual-threat quarterback
Holton Ahlers was valiant in defeat. The three-star junior racked up 507 passing yards and nine total touchdowns.
But the Rampants had too much firepower. Rose gunslinger
Ryan Goodwin countered with 361 passing yards and five total touchdowns. Teammate
Dontavies Harris went off for 315 rushing yards and six touchdowns to aid the win.
