The Willows Honkers will head out on the road to take on the Live Oak Lions at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams have had a bumpy ride up to this point with four consecutive losses for Willows and ten for Live Oak.
Last Friday, Willows came up short against Winters and fell 39-27.
The losing side was boosted by Kyleigh Goppert, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Vennus Garcia, who scored four points along with three steals.
Live Oak suffered their biggest defeat since December 1, 2023 on Friday. They were beaten by Colusa 53-20. While losing is never fun, Live Oak can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1182nd, while Colusa is ranked 340th).
Willows' loss dropped their record down to 7-12. As for Live Oak, their loss was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-12.
Things could have been worse for Willows, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 49-34 loss to Live Oak in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Willows avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
