The Davis Blue Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Rocklin 46-41. While losing is never fun, Davis can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 689th, while Rocklin is ranked 112th).
Despite the defeat, Davis saw an underclassman step up: Sonia Clayton scored ten points along with eight rebounds. Eva Makus was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds.
Rocklin got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Bianca Slone out in front who scored ten points along with six steals and five rebounds. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Gisele Negueloua, who scored 14 points along with three steals.
Davis' defeat was their third straight at home, which bumped their record down to 1-4. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.3 points per game. As for Rocklin, their win bumped their record up to 5-1.
Davis will look to defend their home court on Friday against Del Oro at 6:30 p.m. Hopefully Del Oro focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up ten on Tuesday. Rocklin won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Kennedy at 7:00 p.m. on December 6th. Kennedy is coming into the game hot, having won their last three games.
