The Westlake Charter Explorers scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They blew past Elite 61-28 on the road. Westlake Charter has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five matchups by 27 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Lena Tahod, who scored 29 points along with eight steals and two blocks. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Anthonia Nwaukoni, who scored six points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Despite the loss, Elite still got an impressive performance from Jeneyah Fowler, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 22 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Rhema Armstrong, who scored seven points along with five rebounds and four steals.
Westlake Charter's win bumped their record up to 9-6. As for Elite, they are on a 12-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-17.
Westlake Charter will be playing in front of their home fans against John Adams Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (John Adams Academy: 28.6, Westlake Charter: 29.7) so any points scored will be well earned. As for Elite, they will head out on the road to square off against Fortune Early College at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. The timing is sure in Fortune Early College's favor as the team sits on four straight wins at home while Elite has been banged up by ten consecutive losses on the road.
