Basketball Recap: Franklin Regional's Winning Streak Snapped at Three Games

After flying high against Gateway last Thursday, Franklin Regional came back down to earth. The Franklin Regional Panthers took a 45-32 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Canon-McMillan Big Macs on Sunday. The Panthers' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Lauren Borella was her usual excellent self, going 9 for 13 on her way to 29 points for Canon-McMillan. Those 29 points gave Borella a new career-high. Izabella Bobitski was another key player, putting up two points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Franklin Regional's defeat dropped their record down to 4-4. As for Canon-McMillan, they now have a winning record of 5-4.

Franklin Regional will look to defend their home court on Thursday against Fox Chapel at 7:30 p.m. As for Canon-McMillan, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Thomas Jefferson at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Thomas Jefferson knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past three matches -- so hopefully Canon-McMillan likes a good challenge.
