Baseball Recap: Eastlake Picks Up Third Consecutive Victory

Eastlake waltzed into their contest on Wednesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the Classical Academy Caimans. That's more bragging rights for the Titans, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Max Tello looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Eastlake let Angel Laya and Austin Stroberg run wild. Laya went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI, while Stroberg scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3. What's more, Stroberg posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in March. Hamza Hatahet also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Eastlake's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-6-1. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.0 runs over those games. As for Classical Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 6-9.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Eastlake will head out to challenge San Ysidro at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The last four games the Cougars have played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Classical Academy, they are taking a road trip to face off against Clairemont at 4:00 p.m. on Friday.
