Two dominant guards in Czarina Powell and "Queen" Giselle Griego are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Rowland Raiders will head out on the road to take on the South Hills Huskies at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rowland is hoping to put an end to a three-game streak of away losses.
Rowland suffered their biggest loss since December 26, 2023 on Thursday. They took a serious blow against Diamond Bar, falling 69-42. While losing is never fun, Rowland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 517th, while Diamond Bar is ranked 123rd).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Adrienne Bausley, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and five assists. Isabella Tran was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds.
Meanwhile, South Hills' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Thursday after their third straight loss. The match between South Hills and Los Altos wasn't particularly close, with South Hills falling 55-40.
Rowland has not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 8-16 record this season. As for South Hills, their loss dropped their record down to 13-11.
Rowland strolled past South Hills in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 44-25. The rematch might be a little tougher for Rowland since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
