Westchester is 10-0 against Fairfax since December of 2018, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Westchester Comets will head out on the road to square off against the Fairfax Lions at 4:30 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Westchester has three straight victories, Fairfax has three straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
Last Saturday, Westchester was able to grind out a solid victory over Long Beach Poly, taking the game 42-29.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Westchester to victory, but perhaps none more so than Mariah Blake, who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. Blake is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Savannah Myles was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
Meanwhile, Fairfax came up short against Palisades on Friday and fell 61-48. While losing is never fun, Fairfax can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 639th, while Palisades is ranked 135th).
Westchester's win bumped their record up to 13-4. As for Fairfax, their loss dropped their record down to 6-6.
Everything came up roses for Westchester against Fairfax in their previous meeting back in January of 2023 as the team secured a 54-12 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Westchester since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
