The Mar Vista Mariners lost against the Southwest SD Raiders back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Mar Vista took a 38-23 bruising from Southwest SD. Mar Vista has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Mar Vista's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Allyson Bell, who scored seven points. Nikki Martin was another key contributor, scoring five points.
Leading Southwest SD to victory were Jazlyn Martinez and Pilar Carrera. Martinez scored 15 points, while Carrera scored 12 points.
Mar Vista has not been sharp recently as the team's lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-13 record this season. As for Southwest SD, the victory got them back to even at 9-9.
Mar Vista does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Southwest SD, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Sweetwater at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
