The Colton-Pierrepont Colts were the 34-33 winner over the Boquet Valley Griffins when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Colton-Pierrepont was just a bucket shy of victory on Saturday and fell 47-46 to Boquet Valley. While losing is never fun, Colton-Pierrepont can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 563rd, while Boquet Valley is ranked 261st).
Boquet Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ben Burdo led the charge by scoring 11 points along with five assists and three steals. The contest was Burdo's third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Maddox Rice, who scored 15 points.
Colton-Pierrepont now has a losing record at 4-5. As for Boquet Valley, they pushed their record up to 8-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Colton-Pierrepont will take on Tupper Lake at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Boquet Valley, they will head out on the road to face off against Seton Catholic Central at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Seton Catholic Central focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Thursday.
