The East Mecklenburg Eagles's four-game losing streak came to an end on Tuesday. They came out on top against Piedmont by a score of 64-52.
Leading East Mecklenburg to victory were Jade Marshall and Mackenna Weisner. Marshall scored 16 points, while Weisner scored 18 points along with 3 steals. Presense Downer was another key contributor, scoring 9 points along with 7 rebounds and 4 steals.
Despite the loss, Piedmont still got an impressive performance from Emily Polk, who dropped a double-double on 22 points and 20 rebounds. Polk hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for three straight games. Another player making a difference was Ada Allen, who scored 11 points along with 5 assists and 5 steals.
East Mecklenburg's victory bumped their record up to 2-4. As for Piedmont, their loss dropped their record down to 2-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. East Mecklenburg will challenge Rocky River at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Piedmont, they will head out on the road to face off against Union Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Union Academy knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Piedmont likes a good challenge.
