East Bakersfield has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. Having just played yesterday, they will head out on the road to face off against the West Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on January 23rd. Neither East Bakersfield nor West posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.
East Bakersfield suffered their biggest loss since December 2, 2023 on Monday. They took a serious blow against Tehachapi, falling 60-24. East Bakersfield has struggled against Tehachapi recently, as their game on Monday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, it's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 66-18, which was the final score in West's tilt against Yucca Valley on Saturday. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points West has scored all season.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Caleigh Adams, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. That was a full 77.8% of West's points, marking the eighth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Nala Roberts Wright was another key contributor, scoring a point along with 12 rebounds.
East Bakersfield's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 11-9. As for West, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-8.
East Bakersfield was dealt a bruising 57-28 defeat at the hands of West in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can East Bakersfield avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
