This season hasn't been kind to the Shade Panthers, who are still winless after their fifth match. They took a serious blow against Ferndale on Wednesday, falling 62-30. Shade was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Ferndale apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2022.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Ferndale to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aubrielle Leverknight, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Maisen Sechrengost was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 14 points and 14 rebounds.
Shade bumped their record down to 0-5 with that loss, which was their third straight at home. As for Ferndale, their victory bumped their record up to 3-4.
Shade will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Richland at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Ferndale will be home for the holidays to greet Turkeyfoot Valley Area at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Turkeyfoot Valley Area focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Wednesday.
