Cabrillo and Mission College Prep are an even 3-3 against one another since November of 2018, but not for long. The Cabrillo Conquistadores will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against the Mission College Prep Royals at 6:30 p.m. on January 26th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Tuesday, Cabrillo beat San Luis Obispo 49-36.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cabrillo to victory, but perhaps none more so than Angeliyah Gonzalez, who scored 17 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Rylie Jenkins, who scored 14 points along with four steals.
Meanwhile, Mission College Prep had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 30 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They walked away with a 66-59 victory over Paso Robles. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Cabrillo's victory bumped their record up to 15-5. As for Mission College Prep, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-7 record this season.
Cabrillo skirted past Mission College Prep 37-35 when the teams last played on January 9th. The rematch might be a little tougher for Cabrillo since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
