Given Washington's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 44th, while Canton Central Catholic is ranked 173rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Washington was led to victory by Terrelle Keyes and Jadyce Thigpen. Keyes scored 17 points along with three steals, while Thigpen scored 25 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Keyes has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Jalen Slaughter, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Washington's win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 9-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 77.4 points per game. As for Canton Central Catholic, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-5.
Washington will be staying on the road on Saturday to face off against Alliance at 4:30 p.m. on January 13th. As for Canton Central Catholic, they will face off against GlenOak at 7:15 p.m. on Saturday.
