Middletown can now show off six landslide victories after their most recent contest on Monday. They blew past Platt 57-24 on the road. Given Middletown's advantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 21st, while the Panthers are ranked 148th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Shalyn Smith, who scored 19 points. She hasn't dropped below 19 points for three straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Tessa Porch, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, things could have been worse for Bristol Eastern, but they could have been a whole lot better as they took a 49-33 loss to the Redcoats on Monday.
Middletown pushed their record up to 15-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.4 points per game. As for Bristol Eastern, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-5.
Middletown took a serious blow against the Lancers when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 71-34. Can Middletown avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
