Make it ten blowout wins for the Paloma Valley Wildcats this season. They simply couldn't be stopped on Wednesday as they easily beat Rancho Verde 51-19 on the road. Given Paloma Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 251st, while Rancho Verde is ranked 609th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Ashlee Medrano, who scored 28 points along with three steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Paloma Valley's points. Gina Misiaita was another key contributor, scoring six points along with six steals and five rebounds.
Paloma Valley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-7 record this season. As for Rancho Verde, their loss dropped their record down to 12-11.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Paloma Valley will take on Lakeside at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Lakeside comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last four games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Rancho Verde, they will be playing at home against Temescal Canyon at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Temescal Canyon and Rancho Verde are at an even 4-4 over their past eight head-to-heads.
